I copied and pasted from old Descent Task Force.
Hello, material defenders!
You can recognize me as possible, I'm a member of DescentBB.net, FurAffinity, DeviantART, and more. In Descent online multiplayer mode then, my pilot name is “Glowy”. Well, I'm a PC gamer, cartoonist, computer technician student, and deaf.
Well, here's how I got into Descent games. Let's talk about the hyena and Descent games. (Yeah, I call myself 'hyena' like that. Heh!) When I was a little hyena, my cousin gave me Descent for my birthday. It worked with Mac computers. After a few minutes of playing Descent; quickly, I've fell in love with it because the gameplay was so great and intense. Many various robots and weapons, levels, and 360°! I loved the game so much, it dragged my leg away from game consoles. I spent my hours playing Descent single-player with only keyboard, I started new game after beat repeatedly. I was very addicted to the game.
Some years later, my Mac computer died, I didn't know why. Well, my mother bought me an used personal computer from my middle school, it ran Windows ME. That was my first to own a PC. I tried to install my Descent on the computer, but the operating system failed to read the disc because the game works with Mac computers only. I felt so upset that I could not play the game, I was not able to get my old Mac computer back because it had been given to someone who could fix and own it. So, I played other video games on game consoles as I was feeling as wanting to play Descent so bad.
In high school, I then grew up into a teenage hyena. One of classes I've took was science, I loved the teacher who has been teaching computers and science stuff to students. I asked him if he or his child has any Descent games for Windows operating systems, he told me he would bring one to me. Next day, he gave me Descent I and II The Definitive Collection. (I know it is rude to get something from someone without paying them). I was happy so much that I could play my favorite game on my Windows XP. (My Windows ME died due to viruses, ignorant students downloaded too much porn and music before I got the computer... Thank you, kids.) And finally played Descent II, I had never played the second series of Descent before until got the collection from the science teacher. Other teacher bought me Descent 3. (Yeah, it was rude again.)
I had played Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 and Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2 games on my Win XP with a joystick Microsoft Sidewinder Feedback 2. I got the joystick from GameStop store. I learned how to use WASD movement from Half-Life game, it was better than DOOM's default control so much. After I beat Half-Life game for two or three times, I got an idea to setup both a joystick and keyboard together for Descent games. Successfully I made it easy to fly Pyro-GX with multiple axes and keys by using WASD for forward, backward, and sliding. And by using the joystick for aiming and firing weapons. I've been stuck with them familiarly.
The hyena reached up into an adult as using around DescentBB.net, I've heard about the source port titled Descent: Rebirth. It looked really interesting and helpful for newer computers that the source port works with new devices and components. It also supports widescreen that surprised me, I grabbed and installed it quickly. I've been playing it, I adore it so much! Yeah, I had used D2X-XL before. I didn't like it because it has too many features that “kills classic graphics”. I will make me look like an idiot if I ever hate D2X-XL gamers, but I understood some material defenders who like modern graphics for some reasons. I prefer old pixels.
While playing Descent 1 and II, I decided to draw toon-look robots with silly senor eyes for my own cartoon for the future. I think I title it “DescenTOON” or something. A year later, I finally figured out how to get online and play with other material defenders by setting up my router with Ipv4 address and Descent: Rebirth's port. When I met two of us, they acted strange because they were very new to Descent 1 they told me. So, I offered them to let me help them. They followed my Pyro-GX's rear to beat levels. I really like Co-op mode more than other modes. I love to help rookie material defenders destroying infected robots. I'm so glad that I can play online because I had never played with other players through network before until this year.
One more to say, I feel really connect with material defenders like you because we love and support Descent game until we die.
Descent games are still great and intense. The game will NOT die forever!
By the way, today is my birthday. I'm now 27.
I'm sorry for typing BIG paragraphs and my English.[i]
