| I know I have shared this idea with some of you, but for those who I haven't - I want your feedback on this idea.
Due to the fact that Zico has pretty much said that dedicated servers will likely never happen, I have come up with an idea to have the closest thing to it.
The basic concept is having an idle player on the map (the "host's" ship.) This has been done before, but in it's current state requires 24/7 attention to host new games after the map has finished. My idea is to use the most liked maps and combine them into a mission set - therefore being able to run SEVERAL maps before having to re-host.
However there are some drawbacks. First - you will only get 7 player games (unless someone is playing as the host.) Second - all levels for a map pack will require a reactor, or there will be no automatic level change. Third - I doubt the DMDB would be happy with level sets containing already published levels (however I would be willing to keep the original .txt files with the maps that have one.)

| Seems like a solution to me, I have not been hosting much due to my illness has really been holding me back,, I have bee very tired and I sleep normal nights, which I also plan on keeping this way, Sorry guys but no more long nights from my end, just too tired and such.
So yeah this would be a good solution, I can only host when Ia m up for it and this is going to be very random, I can't say when and such, I will try to PM members or make a topic once it comes to mind. | |
